Got VoIP? Listen up!
The hackers are coming to voice-over-IP phone services. If you have taken advantage of the cost savings of VoIP by subscribing to Packet8, Vonage, SunRocket or similar services, you need to be aware that Symantec is predicting that hackers are discovering some potentially worrisome opportunities in VoIP. When your phone conversations go across the Internet, they become susceptible to all sorts of exploits that have long since been driven out of the 130-year-old analog phone network. Like what? How about caller ID spoofing? You see that a call appears to be coming from your bank or broker...but it's not. Or "audio spam", wherein your voice mailbox gets loaded with, well, commercials. What can you do? Not much right now other than being aware. 0 Comments(s): Click to post your comment. + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - +
