The intersection of Information Technology and small organizations can be a dangerous one. 'blinks are like flashing amber traffic lights--little warnings that I've picked up on the Web. Let's all help keep these intersections accident-free.
SpyWare Prevention Tool (Soon)
Noted spyware researcher Ben Edelman has joined the advisory board of Site Advisor, a new and well-thought-out tool to help you be much smarter in avoiding spyware. It's not quite ready for general use, but after only a few minutes of beta-testing, I found Site Advisor to be an excellent tool. Here's how it works: You download a plug-in for either Internet Explorer or Firefox. Thereafter, whenever you do a Google or Yahoo search, you'll see Site Advisor icons in the search results indicating the relative danger (or safety) of the site. If you directly visit a site, you'll see the Site Advisor rating in the staus bar of your browser (in Firefox, at the lower right corner). The ratings are red, yellow and green. No need for explanation there! You will be surprised at some of the sites that get a red (danger) mark. Site Advisor uses robots to crawl the net and algorithms to test the sites. There's much more technical info here. 0 Comments(s): Click to post your comment. + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - +
