Daylight Savings Time Problems

Remember Y2K, when everyone was worried that computer clocks would be thrown off and commerce would come to a crashing halt when the new century began on January 1st?

Well, guess what? A similar scenario has shaped up because Congress switched us to Daylight Saving Time two weeks earlier than before. Here's what we have to say about the situation in our Tips n Tricks section:

"Due to daylight savings time changes, Microsoft Corp. warns users of its calendar appointments may be off by an hour. The U.S. Energy Policy extended Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the U.S. by approximately four weeks. As a result, beginning in 2007, DST will start three weeks earlier on March 11, 2007, and end one week later on November 4, 2007, resulting in a new DST period that is four weeks longer than previously observed. MS Outlook calendar users might see problems if they do not get the patch."
